Dear Colleagues

We cordially invite you to our congress. Tenderness and aggressiveness seem to be opposites but intrapsychically both are at the core of the same striving for human significance. Aggressiveness signals a deficit of tenderness while extreme tenderness shows a lack of positive aggressive striving.

Adlerian theory was the first theory proclaiming democracy as a state natural for human beings. Still that is the crucial message for our times. Many of Adler's ideas have been supported by new research in various fields of psychology and the human sciences. How to move from the point of deficit to the goal of creative constructive life is the question e met on the level of person, community, country and the world. We are inviting you to come and share your ideas, your research findings and your experience. Every section of IAIP will hold panel discussions on the most urgent issues of the field. You would be able to present your ideas and research in these section presentations and take part in pre- or post -conference workshops.

We are inviting you to come to Vilnius - to one of the most dynamic regions in Europe today. From historical times various cultures co existed and contributed to the development of Vilnius. Now Vilnius is leading the Lithuanian movement from a deficit of democracy to its unfolding. A new life style is emerging in the country preserving the old strengths and looking for new self significance. Come to get acquainted, to spend time together if you are already acquainted, and to contribute to our scientific and social life.

Language of the Congress.

Official languages of the congress - English, German, Lithuanian. Main lecture, special lectures, Panel discussions would be simultaneously translated into English, German, Lithuanian languages. Forum discussion should be in English.

Scientific program

Main lecture, Panel discussions, Special lectures and Forum discussions.

Preconference or post conference workshops would be announced later.

Meetings of the delegates of IAIP will be held during the Congress.

Abstract Submission

Requirements for abstracts: Topic, abstract 400 words, have name of authors, organisations, title. Lectures register uptil 15 May 2008.

Presentations in sections: 20 min (3 presentations in 1.5 hour)

Please submit yours abstract as follows:

a) Title. Capital letters - 14 pt.

b) Author: name, institutions, town, country - 10 pt.

c) Language English or German

d) The main text should be typed - 12 pt., single spacing

e) Send your abstract via e-mail to: vilnius_congress@yahoo.com

f) Please note that the presenters must register and pay registration fee.

Travel information

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania. You can get to Vilnius by air (Vilnius airport), by trains or by bus. Ryga airport is 300 km from Vilnius and it is convenient bus link with Vilnius.
